Performance: Paradise Lost

Before I did blogging, I worked on set design and special effects in SL for live dance shows at Elle's and the Rogue. I feel honored to have been invited to see two different shows by our friends in Japan that totally blew me away. I could appreciate what they did because I was there once trying to do these things too. I had ideas of what I wanted to do, but not the skills or knowledge to make it happen. If you were at the RMK Tea Party Live, you too would have seen this style of advanced live dance performance created by Rokia Kristan and Fair Saeed. It uses heavily scripted special effects, programmed dancing, and amazing set transitions.

I have to tell you now, from what I have seen in the teaser, it looks like the bar has just been raised on a live theater in SL by the Basilique's Paradise Lost. The show uses RLV to change your windlight settings, and your camera view will be changed to control how the show looks on your end of the viewer. It also makes you a part of the show! You are given a full mesh angel avatar to wear. This is great because it cuts down on lag, but it's also brilliant because your avatar will be changed between angel or demon at key points in the story. And you will also be animated and dance too! This type of live performance which includes the audience is not possible in the real world. Only in SL, and I think it would be great to see this impressive creativity. The theme is gothic and based on John Milton's poem Paradise Lost. Story is about Adam and Eve's Original Sin and fallen angel Lucifer. I have not seen the show yet, but here are some basic things you need to know:

1) buy your tickets in the marketplace for a date you can be sure to be there (no refunds)
2) wear your ticket to confirm
3) don't miss the show, arrive early
4) wear the provided angel outfit
5) cue in the live stream of music (Mozart's Requiem! yay!!) that will greatly enhance the show
6) sit on the pews and do not stand up. (if you crash, sit down down immediately once relogged.)
7) use recommended viewer preferences to best see the show, and turn on RLV
